Penn Cardiac Care's Cardiothoracic Surgery Program at Bayhealth Medical Center

To better serve the people on Delmarva, Bayhealth Medical Center has affiliated with the University of Pennsylvania Health System, enabling Penn Cardiac Care surgeons to help establish a comprehensive cardiac surgery program at Bayhealth's Kent General Hospital.

The program, which opened in June 2004, provides patients on-site surgical services close to home. John Mannion, MD, a cardiothoracic surgeon, and a staff of approximately 40 nurses and support personnel, perform artery bypass grafts and heart valve repairs and replacements.

The hospital also offers diagnostic cardiac catheterization, cardiopulmonary rehabilitation and cardiac care for patients recovering from heart attacks.
